Acupuncture is a time tested, safe, low risk modality which involves puncturing the skin at specific anatomical sites (meridian points) to relieve symptoms associated with disease or imbalance. We employ the Clean Needle Technique. Very thin,hair-like, single use disposable sterilized needles are inserted superficially in to the skin creating a heavy sensation in the body. Acupuncture stimulates the body to release blockages thus reestablishing equilibrium and promoting the body’s natural ability to heal itself. It is thought that the acupuncture points, when stimulated, release endogenous analgesic mechanisms in the body. Generally, needles are left in from 20-30 minutes to achieve desired outcomes of therapy.
The World Health Organization (WHO) promotes the use of acupuncture and recognizes that acupuncture is suitable for treating over 100 commonly encountered clinical disorders that can be classified into the following categories:
1). Disorders of the Muscles, Joints and Nervous System such as arthritis, migraine headaches, insomnia, dizziness and low back, neck and shoulder pain.
2). Gynecological Disorders such as irregular, heavy, or painful menstruation, infertility in women and men, pre-menstrual syndrome (PMS) and menopause syndrome.
3). Gastrointestinal Disorder such as food allergies, peptic ulcer, constipation, chronic diarrhea, indigestion, gastrointestinal weakness, anorexia and gastritis.
4). Circulatory Disorders such as hypertension, cholestrol disorder and anemia.
5). Urogenital Disorders such as involuntary loss of urine, urinary tract infections, and sexual dysfunction.

Electro stimulation involves the application of gentle electric current by attaching small leads to acupuncture needles. This enhances the stimulation or desired effect for the treatment. It is frequently used with painful, chronic, inflammatory conditions but can be applied for a number of ailments such as muscle spasms and neurological disorders. It is important to let your acupuncturist know if you have history of seizures/epilepsy, heart disease, pacemaker insertion during your initial intake and review of medical history.
Cupping is an ancient therapy that is still very effective today for a variety of pain, respiratory, muscular and lymphatic conditions. It involves using warmed glass cups that are suctioned on to skin, creating a vacuum. This therapy is intended to pull toxins out of body, increase blood flow, eliminate Qi stagnation or blockages, and relax muscular tension.
Moxibustion is a traditional Chinese medicine technique that involves burning of mugwort (artemsia vulgaris), a small spongy herb that has been used for thousands of years to strengthen blood, stimulate flow of Qi and maintain general health. Research has shown that this herb acts as an “emmenagogue”, increasing circulation to the pelvic area and uterus, stimulating menstruation, used for menstrual cramps and treating breach presentation births.
Generally, moxibustion is used on people with cold and or stagnant conditions. Moxa is believed to expel cold and warm the meridians, which leads to smoother flow of Qi and Blood.Facial Rejuvenation Cosmetic Acupuncture treats imbalances in the body plus uses needles on the face and neck to increase the balance of Qi and Blood flowing to this area.
